Cruise # 91- “Magna On The Danube” River Cruise onboard “AmaMagna”- July, 2025

If you’re a client of mine or you follow my YouTube channel, my Facebook Page, my Instagram page, etc. I’m sure you heard me say that… as per here… in my experience, “Tauck” is the top-rated River Cruise line in Europe due to their more in-depth & many exclusive shore excursions, due to being 100% all-inclusive, due to having the fewest guests onboard their ships & the most Cruise Directors, etc.

Which is all true.

BUT, after personally sailing on 19 River Cruises myself, I can tell you that Ama Waterways “AmaMagna” River Cruise ship is definitely the highest quality ship in the River industry as…

…due to being double the size of other River Cruises…

…it has the biggest rooms, the most restaurants (4), some unique publics spaces, etc.

“AmaMagna” is quite the vessel compared to a normal River Cruise ship!! 😃

And that’s what my below Gallery is all about… showing you what it was like to sail on the “AmaMagna” during my week on AMA Waterways’ “Magna on the Danube” River Cruise…

…enjoy!! 😃

There’s AMA Waterways “AmaMagna” River Cruise ship that was my “home” for 7 nights as I sailed the “Danube” River between Vilshofen, Germany & Budapest, Hungary. FYI, this ship fits 196 guests. To give you a perspective of how much personal space you’ll have on this “double-wide” ship, even though this ship is 100% bigger then a Viking “Long-ship” that has 190 guests onboard, this ship only has 3% more guests onboard compared to one of those Viking ships… so space is what “AmaMagna” offers you more then any other River Ship in Europe if that appeals to you! 😃

Want to take a look “Inside” AmaWaterways “AmaMagna” Ship? If so, watch the below video as I take you through her & show you why… if you’ve never taken a River Cruise before due to thinking they’re too small compared to the Ocean Cruises you’ve been on… this could be the perfect “1st time River Cruiser” ship for you!

Further down this gallery I’ll show you what the rooms & food are like onboard “AmaMagna”, but first, let’s look a little closer at the destination I experienced during this sailing.

We explored some Epic Cities during this AmaWaterways “Magna on the Danube” River Cruise such as Prague, Vienna & Budapest and then we also visited many smaller/charming places like Vilshofen, Passau, Linz, Cesky Krumlov, etc… it was a great 7 days for sure!

This video gives you a “taste” of what’s in store for you if you decide to make AMA Waterways “Magna on the Danube” River Cruise one of your next Vacations I setup for you! 😃

Alright, now that you’re seen the destination highlights, let’s get back to seeing what it’s like to sail on “AmaMagna”.

First off, let’s look at the room options you can stay in… as it’s VERY common for my River Cruise clients to not be sure what deck they want to stay on, check out this video first to help answer the question… “What’s the best deck for my room to be on?”

As I talk about in the above video, top deck is the best place for your room to be and the room I stayed in when onboard, a 474 square foot “Grand Suite”, is one of those top deck rooms. Here’s a video of that “Grand Suite” room on “AmaMagna”. FYI, that room comes with “extra perks” like a deep soaking tub, Butler Service, included Laundry Service (I Loved that perk!!), morning coffee delivery, a stocked mini-bar replenished daily with our favorite soft drinks, a replenished daily fruit platter, in-room Continental Breakfast, etc. FYI, there are only 6 “Grand Suites” onboard “AmaMagna” so make sure to book early if this is the room you want to stay in!!

This video shows you what the 710 square foot top deck “Owner’s Suite” is like onboard “AmaMagna”. Same as the “Grand Suite”, that room comes with extra perks like a deep soaking tub, Butler Service, included Laundry Service, morning coffee delivery, a stocked mini-bar replenished daily with your favorite soft drinks, a replenished daily fruit platter, in-room Continental Breakfast, etc. With that said, my Butler didn’t give me all the details, but he said the “Owner’s Suite” comes with quite a few more perks then the “Grand Suite” I was in so it sounds like if you book that Suite you’ll be well taken care of!! 🙂 As there’s only 1 “Owner’s Suite” onboard “AmaMagna”, this room needs to be booked early too like the “Grand Suite”!

Here’s a look at a 355 square foot top deck “Category SA Suite”. FYI, the Category SB Suites are identical to this SA one except the SB Suites are on the middle deck so for sure book the SA option if still available. This room comes with extra perks too like included Laundry Service, a stocked mini-bar replenished daily with your favorite soft drinks, a replenished daily fruit platter, in-room Continental Breakfast, etc. but no Butler service.

Here’s a look at a 252 square foot top deck “Category AA” Balcony Stateroom. FYI, the Category AB rooms are identical to this AA one except the AB rooms are on the middle deck so for sure book the AA option if still available.

Your last option when it comes to Staterooms onboard the “AmaMagna” is a 205 square foot bottom deck under-the-water-level fixed window stateroom like below. FYI, the category D & E rooms are identical, only their location is different with the Es being closest to the crew rooms… hence, the less desirable of those 2 options.

One last note about rooms… often when I book a client of mine on a River Cruise they ask “What’s the best side of the ship to be on?” Since my answer is always, “Who knows?” and “It’s a matter of luck”, below explains why I say that. This pic shows you 2 AMA Waterways ships side by side where those on the “Portside” of one ship and those on the “Starboard” side of the other had no view at all at that time/their windows were blocked in. FYI, this is VERY common on Europe’s Rivers which are busy (Sometimes there are 3-4 ships side by side which means those in the middle have no view on either side of their ship!) and you don’t know which ship will be parked where/which direction they’ll be facing, etc. so if anyone ever tells you they know for sure the best side to be on I’d like to get their info to help me pick my stocks! 😉

Alright, now that you saw all of “AmaMagna’s” room options, let’s check out my next favorite thing to talk about on a River Cruise which is… Food of course! 😉 If you’d like to check out some of the FABULOUS FOOD I enjoyed during my “AmaMagna” River Cruise, you won’t want to miss this video!!

Now that you’ve seen some of the food you’ll get to enjoy onboard “AmaMagna”, next you’re probably wondering “What’s the setup with drinks on an AMA Waterways River Cruise?” FYI, when you take an AMA Waterways River Cruise they include Wine/Beer/Soft Drinks at lunch & dinner but you pay for those items outside of those times. When it comes to hard liquor though, that’s “A-La-Carte” so you pay for that as you consume those items. Since many, many times over the years my clients have asked me what kind of prices does AMA charge for their drinks, I took the below pictures from their Lounge menu so you know what to expect for pricing once onboard.

With all that said, a few years ago AMA Waterways added a new “inclusion” into their pricing where for 1 hour before dinner (Most nights that fell between 6-7pm) you can enjoy the below drinks in the Lounge for no extra charge so a nice perk for those who don’t mind getting ready early before dinner and heading to the lounge before their next yummy meal! 🙂

Since we’re on the theme of pricing for additional items onboard, I also get asked often how much laundry service is onboard so I took the below pic for you. FYI, as you’ll see in this video of the ship, “AmaMagna” has included self-service laundry onboard but note there’s only 2 washers/2 dryers so it can be tricky to find them availbale if you don’t go at “off times” and also note this is the only AMA Waterways ship with included self-service laundry so on the others your only choice is laundry service like below.

And finally when it comes to “onboard extras”, Gratuities are a major expense you need to account for when taking an AMA Waterways River Cruise… as per below, you’ll need to factor into your budget around $500 USD per couple after paying for below and then tipping all your guides during your port tours. With that said, as per #1 here, there’s always a “perk” when you book your Cruise through me and on most AMA Waterways sailings I can add $300 per room in Free onboard spending money to help cover a nice portion of those gratuities! 🙂
