After having done an “Antarctica” Cruise with Tauck last year and having gone as far South on Earth as you can, I figured why not head North & go as far North on Earth as you can! 😉 Like with my other “Expedition Cruises” in “Antarctica” and “The Galapagos”, this ended up being a Fabulous experience with “Silversea Expeditions”… a trip of a lifetime for sure and definitely one I recommend to my “adventurous” travel lovers like me who love to “get off the beaten path”!! 💯🤩 Below is my picture & video gallery of this sailing to give you an idea of what it was like and for more details on this trip you can visit my review of this Cruise here.
In case you’re wondering where you have to fly to for the start of an Arctic Cruise, more often than not, “Longyearbyen” is where you’ll fly in which is in the “Svalbard” region and is the most Northern settlement in the World with more then 1,000 people living there. As our Cruise ended in Iceland, sometimes you may start in Reykjavik or elsewhere & Cruise to Svalbard… but more often then not you’ll end up in Longyearbyen at some point as I did below! 🤩
There’s a look at “Silver Endeavour” which is one of “Silversea’s” Expedition ships. As I talk about here, Silversea is one of the top Cruiselines in the World and a great choice to take an Expedition Cruise with as is Tauck, Seabourn & Viking Expedition Cruises! FYI, this ship fits just 220 guests and is definitely the most Luxurious “Expedition” ship I’ve ever sailed on with awesome rooms, more food choices then a typical ship of this size, etc.!
Here’s my “Silver Endeavour Highlights” video that shows you all around this fabulous ship… enjoy checking her out! 🤩
In the above video I mentioned the great service onboard “Silver Endeavour”… below are some examples I enjoyed within my first few minutes onboard that started with a “Champagne & Caviar Welcome” and then a “Birthday Treat/Recognition” in my Suite since it happened to be my Birthday the day I boarded. As myself & many of my clients know, taking an Ocean Cruise or River Cruise or Tauck Land Tour is a GREAT way to enjoy your Birthday, Anniversary, Retirement, etc. as they love to help you Celebrate those special occasions during your memorable trip!
Ok, now that you’ve seen an overview of “Silver Endeavour”, let’s get into some of the finer details like your room choices onboard. 85% of the rooms onboard are going to be like the room I stayed in. As you’ll see in the video below, I stayed in a 355 square foot “Premium Suite”. FYI, the “Classic”/”Superior”/”Deluxe” Suites are all identical to this one, the only difference is your room’s location which affects that price.
For those who want an even bigger room option, make sure to BOOK EARLY as there are not many onboard. There’s just one 1,868 square foot “Owner’s Suite”, one 1,668 square foot “Grand Suite”, two 1,163 square foot “Master Suites”, eight 535 square foot “Silver Suites” and four 721 square foot “Signature Suites” like in the below video.
Now that you’ve seen your room choices, in my opinion, the next most important thing to check out is all the yummy food you’re going to get to enjoy onboard!! 😉 As I talked about earlier in this gallery, this ship had A Lot more food choices then a typical Expedition ship… and this video shows lots of highlights of the kinds of food you’ll get to enjoy when you sail on “Silver Endeavour”! 😋
Want a more “in-depth” look at what it’s like to dine at a fabulous restaurant “at sea”? If so, here’s the course-by-course meal I enjoyed at “Il Terrazzino” which is the Italian Restaurant onboard “Silversea Endeavour”.
Now that you’ve seen some of the food you’ll get to enjoy onboard, next you’re probably wondering what are the drinks like on “Silver Endeavour”? Yes, as I talk about here & here, Silversea is an “All-Inclusive” Cruiseline where they include drinks so every-time you enjoy a non-alcohol or alcohol drink you won’t need to sign it onto your “tab” as you do on the big ships. But many times when people first hear of these “All-Inclusive” Cruiselines they’re skeptical thinking what they’ll be served is “house” liquor/wine, etc. like at an “All-Inclusive” Resort in the Caribbean but that’s simply not true! Silversea, and the other top-rated All-Inclusive Cruiselines, serve lots of “top-shelf” liquors, some great wines, etc. and they also like to be creative as you’ll see in some of the pics below where you can see they put together some “destination focused” options along with some fun non-alcohol options. Overall, you won’t have any issues enjoying some great beverages during your well-deserved Vacation onboard “Silver Endeavour”!!
One last thing before I move from my look at the ship to my look at the destination I experienced. As I talk about in the below video, no matter the Cruiseline you’re sailing with… if you’re onboard and are having a Great time and know you want to book another sailing with that Cruiseline… BOOK ONBOARD as you’ll get access to deals you can’t once you’re off the ship! With Silversea for example, they give you a 5% discount for booking onboard/now & then they’ll offer an even better deal… so why not enjoy that savings on your next sailing! And, it combines with any of their other current promos they have in the market And you’ll still get my “perk” as mentioned in #1 here… so, WIN/WIN/WIN for you!! 🤩 Simply look for the below sign onboard/talk to their “Future Cruise Consultant” about your next sailing/let them know you want to keep your new booking with my agency and… simple as that… you’ll get all the benefits I mentioned above! 😃
Alright, now that you’ve checked out “Silver Endeavour” and the rooms & food & drinks, etc. available onboard, let’s have a look at the destination I experienced… the “Arctic” in the Svalbard region! Can you picture yourself Cruising through the “Ice Fields” in the Arctic/Svalbard like below? It’s definitely a magical experience & one I truly hope you get to enjoy yourself!! 💯🤞🏻
Before I show you my “Arctic Highlights”, let’s get into some “Housekeeping” items! 😉
First off, as I talk about here & here, I ALWAYS arrive into the city where I’m starting my Cruise at least 1 day early!! As I talk about at the 2 minute/25 second point in the below video, I came into Oslo 2 days early for this Cruise and it was good I did as my flight was 2 hours late and I almost missed my connection into Oslo! So, ALWAYS fly into your Cruise’s starting point at least 1 day early so your trip that you paid tens of thousands of dollars for isn’t ruined by your flight which are commonly late, more than ever, these days! And as a bonus, the below video also shows you an airline that you may not know much about so you can check out what my “Business Class” flight with them was like to see if they’re a line you may consider flying with down the road. ✈️
Above I mentioned I flew into Oslo 2 days early before my Arctic Cruise started… this video shows you some of the highlights of what I experienced when in Oslo.
Ok, 2 last things before I show you my “destination highlights”… first off, I’ve mentioned “Expedition Cruises” multiple times throughout this gallery and if you’re not sure what that means & what the difference is between an “Expedition Cruise” & a normal “Ocean Cruise”, this video is going to clarify all that for you! 😉
And finally, in the above video, I mentioned you’ll be on “Zodiacs” for all your excursions when on an “Expedition Cruise” and… as I talk about below… there’s Nothing to be worried about or intimidated by Zodiacs, they simply add to your trip’s adventure and are truly lots of fun!! 🤩
Alright, time to get a “feel” for what you may experience if you choose to take your own Antarctica “Expedition Cruise” with Silversea Expeditions or Seabourn Expeditions or Viking Expeditions, etc. 😎
FYI, when some people go to the Arctic region they choose to do an 8-10 night trip that just focuses on the “Arctic” but than others, as I did, choose to do a 2 week sailing that ends in Iceland… and some start in Iceland and go vice/versa. For sure, if you have the time & the budget, do the longer sailing as Iceland is another Great place to visit as you’ll see in the video below!! 🇮🇸👍🏻
And if you do Iceland as well, almost for sure your Ship will “attempt” to make a stop at “Jan Mayen” Island. I say “attempt”, as only about 20% of the ships that try to stop here make it, but if yours does, as you’ll see in my video below… it’s a VERY unique stop that few/few people will ever get to experience in their life!! 🤩
Well, there you go… I truly hope you enjoyed my photo & video gallery of my “Arctic Expedition Cruise” and I hope it helps you decide if this Cruise is for you or not!
